With thanks for your custom throughout the year and wishing you all a very merry Christmas!
We’re getting in the Christmas spirit over at Bondgate Bakery. And we hope that once you taste a slice or two of our Stollen, or a couple of our mince pies, you’ll feel Christmassy too.
We think our Stollen is pretty special: each one is made with free range local Yorkshire eggs, fair trade fruit and nuts and we even make our own marzipan. We make our Stollen in the traditional way, and once it has been baked, we carefully place it in an icing sugar bath for 24 hours so that the sugar soaks into the loaf to give it a fantastic texture and flavour.
Our Christmas range also includes a luxurious Christmas cake (iced or un-iced), our very generously sized mince pies and both traditional Christmas Puddings and our Triple Chocolate Christmas Puddings made with Saltaire Brewery’s chocolate stout. We also make a traditional German Christmas bread called Hutzelbrot (Hazelnut bread), which is packed with hazelnuts, dried dates and pears.
Since founding our bakery in 1984 with an Enterprise Grant, our ethos has always been about baking with integrity. We use recipes handed down to us from our grandmothers along with traditional recipes we’ve been given. We carefully source our ingredients and we bake the old fashioned way – no additives, no chemicals, no mixes.
